Big Picture: The biochemistry behind Bolt’s briskness

On Sunday night, billions of people around the world will be watching Usain Bolt attempt to defend his title as the world’s fastest man.

As a marathon runner I need 5 times less of the oxygen Bolt will be needing to run today’s race! 

And sitting on the sofa watching him, thats probably not even worth trying to calculate. I’ll be filling my lungs to scream “Bolt” for all of the 9 seconds of the race, but I’m sure that doesn’t even come close.
